Ashanti and Ja Rule pay homage to Jamaica at Mega Yush

International recording artistes Ashanti and Ja Rule, paid homage to Jamaica during their performance at Mega Yush over the weekend.

The 'Princess of Hip Hop & R&B' wore an outfit in the colours of the Jamaican flag, complimented by fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and hoop earrings.

She also opted for local make-up artist Dominque Mitchell and her long ponytail and baby hair was laid by Jamaican hairstylist Neahlis, completing the dancehall inspired look.

Ja-Rule on the other hand sported a white mesh merino, an iconic fashion staple in Jamaican culture.

Ashanti also paid tribute in song, covering Dawn Penn's mega hit "You Don't Love Me (No No No)", much to the delight of the jam pack crowd at Sabina Park in Kingston.

Patrons were taken on a trip down memory lane, as the artistes performed hit after hit including the Guinness world record breaking "Foolish," and the J.Lo assisted "I'm Real."

The hour-long performance saw Ashanti flexing her vocals on hits 'Rain On Me," "Baby" and "The Way That I Love You," while Ja-Rule represented with anthems "New York," "Between Me and You" and "Where Would I Be."

The pair dominated music charts in the late 90's and early 2000s as part of the Irv Gotti led Murder Inc Record label.
