Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion won three awards for favourite trending song Body, favourite hip-hop album Good News and favourite female hip-hop artiste, while Drake won favourite male hip-hop artiste.
Cardi B, who hosted the AMA's for the first time, was awarded favourite hip-hop song for Up, while favourite music video went to Lil Nas X for Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
Olivia Rodrigo, who led the pack with seven nominations, took home the award for new artiste of the year, while Taylor Swift took home the trophies for favourite female artiste and best pop album for her lockdown project Evermore.
Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Kanye West and Carrie Underwood were also winners at Sunday night's AMAs.
