Rapper Gunna was taken into police custody on Wednesday morning, two days after he was charged with conspiracy to violate the state of Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
The RICO Act is a state version of the federal law that has been used to target the mafia and other large criminal enterprises.
Gunna was listed alongside fellow rapper Young Thug in a sweeping indictment of dozens of alleged gang members in Atlanta.
The rapper, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, has been booked in a Fulton County jail.
The 88-page indictment claims that the two chart-topping rappers and 26 others were members of a violent criminal street gang called Young Slime Life (YSL).
The various YSL members stand accused of a wide-range of crimes, including murder, carjacking, armed robbery, drug dealing, and illegal firearm possession.
