Sacaj takes crown in 2022 festival song competition

The lone woman in this year's Jamaica 60 Festival Song Competition was last night crowned the winner.

Sacaj, the 29-year-old from Sanside, St Mary became the fifth female winner in the competition's 56-year history.

Her entry Nuh Weh Nice Like Yard took the top honours and the $3 million prize money to be shared with producer Newell Morgan.

Magic Flute placed second with his entry I am a proud Jamaican, while veteran entertainer Nitty Kutchie finished third with Defend Jamaica.

Kutchie was also awarded the Best Performer prize.

Dancehall artiste Stacious, who won last year's competition, was among the guest performers.

Meanwhile, the finals of the Gospel Star Competition will be held tomorrow at the Creative Production and Training Centre.

It will be broadcast live on PBCJ and various streaming platforms.
