Serena Williams' father, Richard, being sued over rights to his biopic

Richard Williams, the father and coach of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams, is being sued, along with Warner Bros. Entertainment and Will Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment.
The suit by the competition TW3 Entertainment and Power Move Multi-Media (PMMM) claims they secured the rights to Richard's tale before WB and Smith moved forward with a movie.
According to the lawsuit TW3 and PMMM claim they were cut out of the movie rights to the upcoming biopic, King Richard, which stars Will Smith as Serena's father.
TW3 and PMMM claim they bought the rights to Richard's book Black and White: The Way I See It and life story back in 2017, an agreement they say barred anyone else from working on the project.
