Toots Hibbert, Buju Banton among Reggae Grammy nominees

Buju Banton, Skip Marley, Maxi Priest, The Wailers and the late Toots Hibbert are the nominees for the Reggae Grammy Awards.
 
Banton released his long awaited comeback album Upside Down 2020 in June, while Toots Hibbert was promoting his latest body of work Got to Be Tough when he fell ill and later died. 
 
Skip Marley has had a successful year with the single Slow Down featuring HER, which is included on his Higher Place EP released in August.
 
The other nominated albums are It All Comes Back to Love from Maxi Priest and One World from The Wailers.
 
The Recording Academy made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa lead the nominations for the 2021 Grammy Awards.
 
Beyoncé leads the field, with nine nominations overall, including four for Black Parade, a protest anthem released at the height of the Black Lives Matter demonstrations this summer.
 
Swift has six nominations for Folklore, tying with Dua Lipa who also picked up the nominations for her project Future Nostalgia with rapper Roddy Ricch.
 
Other nominees include Chloe and Halle, BTS and Megan Thee Stallion.
 
The winners will be announced at the 63rd Grammy Awards ceremony on January 31 next year.
 
Comedian Trevor Noah will host the show.
