US celebrities pay tribute to late actor Sidney Poitier

Tributes are pouring in on social media for legendary actor Sidney Poitier who died at the age of 94 on Thursday.
Talk show host Whoopi Goldberg said Poitier showed how to reach for the stars, while entertainment mogul Tyler Perry said his grace and class was an example.
Muscian Lenny Kravitz added that Poiter showed the world that with vision and grace, all is possible.
Media mogul Oprah Winfrey, former first lady Hillary Clinton, as well as Magic Johnson and Debbie Allen also honoured the icon actor for his groundbreaking contribution to the industry.
Poitier's elegant and principled onscreen characters made him Hollywood's first Black movie star and the first Black man to win the best actor Oscar, for the 1963 film, Lilies of the Field.
In 2009, then President Obama awarded Poitier the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian honour.
