Antigua and Barbuda PM calls for tax cuts for airline tickets

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne wants tax cuts for airline ticket prices in the region.

Mr. Browne said the COVID-19 pandemic has provided Caribbean governments with the opportunity to implement this policy.

He is recommending a 50 per cent reduction, even temporarily.

Mr. Browne argued that the tax cuts would be one of the ways to incentivize fully vaccinated persons.

In May last year, the International Air Transport Association urged Caribbean governments to cut passenger taxes if they wanted to benefit from the post pandemic recovery.
