CIBC FirstCaribbean pledges support to tourism sector

CIBC FirstCaribbean has said despite the bleak forecasts for the tourist sector hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is committed to it and will continue to be active in supporting the Caribbean tourism industry.

Adam Carter, Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at CIBC FirstCaribbean, said the hospitality and hotel industry accounted for a large part of the bank's portfolio.

Mr. Carter said the bank has received a lot of requests for support.

He added that there is a need to improve some of the region's tourism infrastructure and this could be achieved through public/private partnerships.
