First supplementary estimates for 2021/2022 to be tabled

The first supplementary estimates for the 2021/2022 fiscal year will be tabled today in the House of  Representatives.

It is expected to show an increased in spending since the $830.8-billion budget was tabled in February.

Minister of  Finance, Dr. Nigel Clarke, recently stated that there were expenditure pressures brought on by the surge in COVID-19 cases.

He said the supplementary budget will address significant financing requirements of  the health sector.

Dr. Clarke said the decision to formulate the supplementary budget was made against the background of  robust revenue outturns recorded for the first four months of  the fiscal year.

During the April to July period, revenues exceeded budgeted inflows by $17.3 billion.
