Increase seen in remittance inflows

There has been a 25 percent increase in remittance inflows to Jamaica.

During the April to July period remittances amounted to US$1.1 billion - that  was a US$230 million  increase over the four months last year.

The largest source market of  remittance flows was the US. 

Remittances from the country accounted for 70.4 per cent of  total flows up from 69.3 per cent in July 2020. 

Other source countries which contributed a notable share of  remittances in July were Canada at 11.4 per cent, followed by UK and the Cayman Islands at 10.2 per cent and 4.8 per cent, respectively.
