Jamaica gets US$20M spice production boost

The US Department of Agriculture has offered a US$20 million grant to boost spice production in Jamaica.
The funds will be disbursed over the course of five years, under the 'Food for Progress' programme.
The initiative will target the marketing and development of products and will promote sustainable and climate-friendly farming.
Spices such as turmeric, ginger and pimento are being targeted.
Jamaica is one of 10 countries this year to be selected for the grant, which will be awarded this month.
