JAMPRO optimistic western Jamaica will rebound from COVID fallout

The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) says it believes that western Jamaica will rebound, as it looks towards upcoming opportunities in 2021-22.

Conrad Robinson, Manager of the Agency's Western Jamaica Regional Office, said that while the COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the tourism sector, investment projects are still in the pipeline for the next two years.

He says the region has several projects that are being implemented in key sectors.

This includes investments in Tourism, where about 2,500 new hotel rooms are in the advanced stage of planning and implementation; Logistics, with the Port Authority of Jamaica committing to the redevelopment of the Montego Bay port; and in the Agribusiness space, where there are at least two Agro-parks slated for development.
