JMMB Financial Group records 2% profit increase

JMMB Financial Group saw a 2 per cent increase in profit for its first quarter ended June.
For the three months ended June, the institution made J$1.97 billion after tax, compared with $1.93 billion for the same period last year.
JMMB says the growth in net profit was linked to growth in its Trinidad & Tobago business, and the strong performance of Sagicor Financial Company in which JMMB has a 23 per cent stake.
JMMB's income fell for the quarter, however, amounting to $6.55 billion, a 5 per cent drop from last year's earnings.
The company says, while there are economic signs of concern, it remains optimistic about the year's financial performance.
