Commerce and Agriculture Minister Audley Shaw has said there is to be an agricultural land transformation in sections of St. Catherine and the project is scheduled to get underway in the next six to twelve months.
Mr. Shaw said the areas of focus will include Bernard Lodge and Innswood which amount to roughly 6,000 acres of land. The transformation programme will include a 3,000-acre farm that will utilize Israeli technology, according to the minister.
He also pointed out that Israel is an innovator in water technology as the country extracts the salt from seawater to irrigate land.
The minister said the intention is to have similar projects across Jamaica.
