Tourism Ministry seeking funds to secure PPE for some tourism enterprises

The Ministry of Tourism is in discussions with Jamaica National Group and the National Export-Import (EXIM) Bank, to provide funding to enable small and medium tourism enterprises to secure COVID-19 personal protective equipment.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett says, combined, both institutions have more than half a million dollars available to lend to these businesses.

According to Mr. Bartlett, the Tourism Enhancement Fund had put $1 billion with the EXIM bank for the purpose of supporting and enabling small and medium tourism enterprises to get affordable credit.

He says $389 million of the $1 billion remains along with $200 million at Jamaica National.
