52 new COVID-19 infections, one more death

Jamaica on Friday confirmed 52 new cases of COVID-19 from 977 samples tested.

This constitutes a positivity rate of 5.2 per cent.

The country has now recorded 91,421 cases of COVID-19 since the first infection was confirmed on March 10 last year.

There has been one additional death from the disease, a 70 year old woman from St Thomas who passed away on Thursday.

Total deaths from the virus now stand at 2,407.

The number of patients in hospital with the virus has further declined to 126.

Seventeen are severely ill, while nine are in critical condition.
