The police have confirmed that the body found Thursday morning on Junior Crescent on the outskirts of May Pen in Clarendon is that of missing St. Andrew teacher, Samuel Martin.
The decomposed body was discovered about 10 o'clock.
The hands and feet were bound.
Senior Superintendent Vendolyn Cameron Powell, head of the Clarendon Police, said Mr. Martin's killers poured gas oil on the body to suppress the scent of decomposition.
Mr. Martin had been missing since Friday.
His car was found in the Junior Crescent area last weekend.
The Matildas Corner Police reported that Mr. Martin, who was 41 years-old, was last seen about 6:30 Friday evening in Mandeville, Manchester.
Mr. Martin, who had stints at a number of high schools, was teaching at St. Joseph's Teachers' College at the time he went missing.
SSP Powell believes Mr. Martin was killed elsewhere after which his body taken to the spot where it was found.
She said the investigation into Mr. Martin's murder is at an advanced stage.
She was speaking on RJR's call-in programme, Hotline, with host Emily Shields.
In the meantime, Jamaica Teachers Association President Dr. Garth Anderson said news that Mr. Martin's body was found has plunged the teaching fraternity into mourning.
He remembered Mr. Martin as a hardworking and committed teacher and said his passing "no doubt, is a loss to the teaching profession."
Dr. Anderson called for the police to do all that is possible to bring his killers to justice.
The Ministry of Education has also said it is shocked at the news regarding Mr. Martin.
Minister without Portfolio Karl Samuda said he had hoped Mr. Martin would have been found safe and alive.
In a news release Thursday afternoon, he said the sad news is especially painful as the sector grapples with the loss of two students recently.
