Peter Bunting, a former Minister of National Security, has denied accusations that he was involved in the revocation a United States visa granted to Energy Minister Daryl Vaz.
Mr Bunting, in a statement Tuesday night, stressed the revocation of US visas falls solely within the purview of the American Government.
He said during his tenure as Minister of National Security all of his meetings with representatives of the US Embassy in Jamaica or the US State Department were official engagements, and solely concerned issues of national security and the safety of the Jamaican public.
Mr. Bunting said other matters were not pursued during the meetings.
He urged Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith to use their offices to engage directly with the State Department regarding Mr. Vaz's visa revocation.
Mr. Bunting said this would address matters which have been raised in the public domain.
