Children's Advocate reports progress in probe of "smoking toddler" video

Children's Advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison says investigators have received crucial information which should help them locate the toddler who was seen in a video smoking a cigarette and drinking what appeared to be alcohol.

In an update to Radio Jamaica News on Tuesday night the Children's Advocate disclosed that investigators from her office visited “a particular community that we think will have some answers for us,” and will continue those efforts on Wednesday.

She said her office was focused on locating the child and the adults in the video, “or somebody who is at least associated with the making of that video.”

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency and the Cyber Crimes Unit have also launched separate probes into the incident, captured on video and posted on social media.

The toddler is seen with a cigarette in his hands, attempting to smoke it while adult voices are heard encouraging him to inhale and praising him for making the attempt.
