COVID-19 infections rise sharply; 336 cases on Friday

There has been another significant increase in confirmed daily cases of COVID-19 in Jamaica, with a 30 per cent infection rate registered on Friday. 
 
The Ministry of Health & Wellness has reported there were 336 confirmed cases from 3,082 samples tested on Friday.
 
There are currently 1,892 active cases of the virus being monitored across the country.
 
Sixty-seven patients are in a hospital, two of them deemed critically ill. 
 
Four additional deaths from the virus have increased the tally to 2,999.
 
Three of those fatalities occurred last year.
 
The other death was in January this year.
