COVID-19 sub-committee of Cabinet meets

The COVID-19 sub-committee of Cabinet is meeting on Saturday to discuss the uptick in cases of the virus.

The meeting is aimed at, among other things, determining whether there may be need to tighten some of the prevention measures prior to their expiration on August 10.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said earlier this week that the country will be notified via a press conference by next Tuesday

The Ministry of Health reported that there were 144 additional cases of  the virus on Thursday.

The reproductive rate is now 1.2, coming from a rate of below one for 16 weeks.

Hanover and Westmoreland have been seeing a greater level of  spread on a per-capita basis - two to three times that of  the metropolitan area of Kingston & St. Andrew.
