The latest number of postive Covid-19 cases in Jamaica hit an all time high yesterday with 1968 cases recorded islandwide.
5,723 samples were tested, which means there was a positivity rate of 31.7 percent.
The latest data from the Ministry of Health, also recorded 8 covid-19 related deaths.
Two other deaths are under investigation.
Five deaths were recorded in St. Catherine, two in St. Ann, and one in Manchester.
St. James recorded the highest number of positives with 534, followed by St. Catherine with 386 and the Corporate Area with 271.
446 patients are in hospital.
Eighty-seven of these patients are moderately ill, 41 are severely ill and 7 critically ill.
There have now been112 thousand 218 cases of the illness confirmed in Jamaica since the start of the pandemic.
