The deadline for disabled individuals to apply for the COVID-19 care grant has been extended.
The new date is August 22.
Dione Jennings, Chief Technical Director at the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities, says the extension is to facilitate existing eligible applicants as well as a new target group.
It includes children with disabilities, disabled persons over the age of 65 and persons with disabilities who registered up to June 30.
The programme, which is implemented by the Ministry of Social Security, through the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities, is a temporary one-off grant made available to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on persons with disabilities.
