Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey

Eight people wanted for murder were among 184 arrested during a two-day islandwide operation by the police last week.

The operations, led by the Criminal Investigations Branch, were conducted on Thursday and Friday.

Three firearms, 204 rounds of ammunition and seven motorcycles were seized.

Two stolen motor vehicles were also recovered.

In addition, Fitz Bailey, Deputy Commissioner in charge of crime, said three persons were charged for wounding with intent, three for house breaking and larceny, six charged for shooting with intent, four for rape, one for aiding and abetting rape, five for robbery with aggravation and two for illegal possession of firearm.

Among those charged with illegal possession of a firearm is Andrew Hinds, who was previously charged with the murder of a child in 2014.

He was released from custody on the murder charge on September 20, because one of the prosecution witnesses could not be located.
