Eleven private health facilities join COVID vaccination programme

Dr. Christopher Tufton

Eleven private sector entities have been given the green light to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

They will offer vaccination to the public free of cost.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the entities are located in Kingston and St. Andrew, St. James, St. Catherine, Manchester, St. Elizabeth and St. Ann.

They include the Vein Centers of Jamaica on Lady Musgrave Road; Health Plus Associates, located in Boulevard Super Centre; Online Medics in Greater Portmore, St. Catherine; Fontana Limited (Mandeville, Montego Bay, Kingston, Ocho Rios and Savanna-la-Mar); Portmore Health Complex; Windsor Medic Wellness Centre in Kingston; Baywest Hospital in Montego Bay; Winchester Surgical and Medical Institute in Kingston; Hospiten in Montego Bay; Medical Associates; and the private practice of Dr. Michelle Holt at Nuttall Medical Centre.

More mobile units

Dr. Tufton said his ministry will also be expanding the mobile vaccination programme to focus on rural communities.

"So what we need to do is to get of the beaten track, go into those communities where logistics are challenging, where we need to convince, and bring those buses in...and get persons vaccinated," he said.
