Five women accused of brutally beating 17-year-old girl, remanded

The five women who are charged in connection with the beating of 17-year-old Kaylan Dowdie in Barbican, St. Andrew, were remanded when they appeared in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday.
 
They are scheduled to return to court on December 9 when bail applications will be heard.
 
Twenty-eight-year-old Shakeema McLeod, 33-year-old Nadine Aldridge, 45-year-old Yoland Vassell, 22-year-old Timone Williams and 26-year-old Casiann Lewis, who are all from Barbican Road, are charged with wounding with intent and unlawful wounding.
 
It was reported that about 11:30 p.m. on November 9, the teenager and Miss McLeod had an argument.
 
Aldridge, Vassell, Williams and Lewis joined in and it developed into a brawl.
 
The police said the teenager was beaten until she was unconscious. 
 
She has been admitted to hospital in serious condition.
