Foreign Ministry set to move to new downtown Kingston headquarters

Following a delay last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to move into its new headquarters in downtown Kingston in the first quarter of this year.
A Chinese firm constructed the 11-storey building.
Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith said the delayed relocation was due to incomplete electrical wiring.
"It's a major project, major undertaking, in respect of which designs had some vintage, the project having started from as far back as 2005. And whatever the issues were, they have been sorted," she said.
Asked if the delay was also due to security concerns about the building, Senator Johnson Smith asserted that there has been "no evidence provided in respect of any such allegations and accordingly, they're not under consideration" by the ministry.
