Former Education Minister in Antigua and Barbuda returns to Cabinet after being freed of criminal charges

Antigua and Barbuda's former education minister, Michael Browne, returned to the Cabinet on Monday, less than a month after he was acquitted by a High Court on two criminal charges.

A government statement said Mr. Browne will be given the new portfolio of Minister of the Creative Industries and Innovation.

Last month, High Court judge, Justice Colin Williams, acquitted the former education minister of the charges against him.

The charges cannot be cited for legal reasons.

The Member of Parliament for All Saints West maintained his innocence and the High Court judge said the prosecution did not prove beyond all reasonable doubt that Mr. Browne was guilty of the offences dating back to 2020.
