Garbage truck plunges into Rio Cobre; Bog Walk Gorge closed to traffic as a result

The Bog Walk Gorge is currently closed to traffic as a result of a garbage truck falling into the Rio Cobre last night.

There were five crew members on the truck when it happened.

They were all rescued by divers in the community and reportedly only suffered minor injuries.

Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) Audley Gordon told Radio Jamaica News that the team was en route to do garbage collection in Linstead when the incident happened.

He said the loss of this unit heightens the concerns of the NSWMA which is already severely short of garbage trucks.
