Global COVID-19 cases now more than 600,000

The number of coronavirus - COVID-19 cases around the world has now surpassed 600,000.

More than 131,000 people have recovered, but more than 27,000 have died.

Spain's death toll has jumped to 5,690, an increase of 832, since the last set of figures were reported on Friday.

The announcement came as the number of people infected with the virus in the United States hit more than 104,000, with deaths surpassing 1700.

Italy has announced 919 new deaths from the coronavirus, the highest number of fatalities any country has reported in the space of 24 hours since the outbreak began late last year.

The total number of people who have died as a result of COVID-19 in Italy now stands at 9,134.

Jamaica has so far registered 30 confirmed 30 cases of COVID-19, with one death.
