Grenada declares limited state of emergency

Prime Minister of Grenada Dr. Keith Mitchell on Wednesday said he had asked the Governor General to declare a limited state of emergency as the island seeks to reduce the impact of the coronavirus.
In a radio and television broadcast, Dr. Mitchell said the State of Emergency would begin Wednesday evening and remain in effect for 21 days.
In providing justification for the limited state of emergency under the 1987 Emergency Powers Act, the Prime Minister said failure to take appropriate action to protect citizens could result in the country paying a price.
Dr. Mitchell said other measures would be announced later.
