Guyana offering COVID booster shot to all adults

The Guyana government has announced that it is now offering booster COVID-19 vaccines to people 18 years and older.
 
The announcement comes as the world grapples with the Omicron variant of the virus, which has resulted in many countries imposing new travel restrictions.
 
Guyana is providing the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sputnik, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines to its citizens.
 
Figures released by the ministry show that 738,995 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including first, second and booster shots.
 
Some 1,006 people have died from COVID-19 in Guyana.
 
The country's case count is 38,160.
