Haiti sees increase in imported COVID-19 cases since reopening airport

Haitian health authorities have confirmed that since the reopening of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, the country has recorded a 73 per cent increase in imported cases of the coronavirus.

The Ministry of Public Health said prior to the reopening on July 1, the country had recorded 57 imported cases of the virus, but the figure has since increased to 99.

The Ministry says the increase is attributable to 36 cases from the Dominican Republic and six from the US.

The Ministry said since March 19, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 6,333.
