Health Minister concerned some Jamaicans not vaccinated against measles

With health officials in Jamaica on high alert in the wake of the outbreak of measles in several countries, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton is raising concern that ten per cent of the population is not vaccinated against the highly infectious disease.
Dr. Tufton raised the issue in an interview with RJR News
He said while the overwhelming majority of Jamaicans have been vaccinated against the disease, the Health Ministry is closely monitoring the situation because some persons have not taken the vaccine and so the situation cannot be taken for granted.
Dr. Tufton said health personnel assigned to the island's ports of entry have been placed on high alert for measles.
They have increased surveillance, particularly for persons coming from counties were cases of measles have been reported.
There are no reported cases of measles in Jamaica.
