INDECOM able to conduct duties during curfew, says Chang

Dr. Horace Chang

Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang has said teams from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), will be able to carry out their duties while the curfew order is in effect.

Dr. Chang was responding to the concern from INDECOM Commissioner Terrence Williams that the agency was excluded from the list of exempted organizations.

Speaking with Radio Jamaica News, Dr. Chang said the curfew order with exempted groups has already been gazetted, however, some leeway can be provided.

"The police will move them or escort them and I still have some discretion as the minister, with Cabinet approval when necessary, to exempt individuals who are essential at a particular point in time, so it's not a problem if INDECOM needs to move in the night," he indicated.
