INDECOM probing fatal shooting of woman in August Town

Makiedah Messam, Director of Complaints at INDECOM's Eastern Division

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is carrying out a forensic reconstruction of the scene where 44 year old Susan Bogle was fatally shot on Wednesday as the probe into her killing intensifies.

Ms Bogle was shot while lying in her bed.

It's reported that she was killed during a shootout involving the security forces and gunmen on August Town Road, shortly after 2:00 p.m.

Makiedah Messam, Director of Complaints at INDECOM's Eastern Division, said a team has been in the area since Wednesday.

She said statements have been collected from residents, members of Ms Bogle's family and members of the security forces.

She said the team still in the area will continue the probe by reconstructing the scene of the incident to "determine how she died and by whom".  She said the weapons used by members of the security forces have been collected for ballistics testing and a post-mortem on the woman's body should also assist in solving the case.

However, Ms Messam said a key element to the investigation - eye witnesses - is missing. She urged persons who observed the incident to provide INDECOM investigators with information by calling on its WhatsApp line at 876-553-5555.
