More Jamaicans have received Caricom (Caribbean Community) Skills Certificates than nationals of any other country in the region.
Over the seven year period from 2007 to last year, 1,073 Jamaicans received the document when compared with 182 persons from other Caricom territories.
The data released by the Planning Institute of Jamaica in the latest Social and Economic Survey shows that 542 applicants were women.
The Caricom Free Movement Skilled Persons Act that came into effect in July 1997, allows the free movement of Caribbean professionals in the region.
Individuals who qualify under the Act can receive what is called a Certificate of Recognition of Caribbean Community Skilled Person.
