Jamaica's murder tally at 1,301

With a few days remaining in the year, data released by the Police High Command show that the country's murder tally now stands at 1,301.

However, this is 25 fewer than the 1,326 murders recorded over the same period last year.

Over the last few weeks, the police have been conducting daily operations islandwide, targeting havens for gunmen and searching for suspects wanted for murders, shootings and other serious crimes.

Six of the 19 police divisions have recorded increases in murders this year.

The St. Andrew South Division has recorded the most homicides with 141, followed by St. Catherine North with 125, James at 121, St. Catherine South with 111, Clarendon 103 and St. Andrew Central with 98.
