JDF members to get COVID jab before assisting in vaccination process

Dr. Christopher Tufton, speaking with 'Hotline' host Emily Shields

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has said members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will be inoculated prior to assisting with the COVID-19 vaccine implementation.

The JDF will lead the logistics planning for the management of mass vaccination sites.

Dr. Tufton told Radio Jamaica's Hotline host Emily Shields that the JDF has its own facility where it will provide the jab for "most, if not all" its members.

He said arrangements will be made for members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to be vaccinated through the public system since they "might not be as equipped" with their own facility.

The health ministry has outlined that during the later stages of the vaccination programme, it will be using sites, such as the National Arena, to vaccinate about 1,000 people daily.
