JLP councillor Irvin Brown dies after battling COVID-19

Irvin Brown, Jamaica Labour Party councillor for the Fellowship Division in Portland, died on Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19.
 
Mr. Brown, who was 61, was in the Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
 
In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Member of Parliament for Portland East, Ann Marie Vaz, said Mr. Brown had fallen ill and tested positive for the respiratory illness.
 
Mr. Brown was elected councillor for the Fellowship Division in November 2016.
 
Mayor of Port Antonio Paul Thompson described the death of Mr. Brown as a major loss to the Portland Municipal Corporation. He said Mr. Brown was loved by his constituents and "he is going to be missed by the council and is going to be missed by his division."
