Kari Douglas fails to appear in court on disorderly conduct charge

The trial of Kari Douglas, Councillor for the Trafalgar Division in the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, did not get underway before the St. Andrew Parish Court Wednesday morning as she failed to show up.

A bench warrant was issued for her arrest but was stayed until February 24.

Miss Douglas is to stand trial for disorderly conduct.

She was charged on April 7 last year during an alleged confrontation with the police who signalled her to stop during curfew hours.

When questioned by the police, Ms Douglas reportedly failed to prove she was a councillor or give a satisfactory reason for being on the road.

According to the police, Miss Douglas became uncooperative and behaved boisterously while hurling abusive language.

Ms Douglas denied the allegations.
