Labour Ministry working to bring home 27 hotel workers in Florida

MPs Horace Dalley and Zavia Mayne

The Ministry of Labour is now working to bring home 27 Jamaican hotel workers who are in Florida in the United States and want to return.

Jamaica has closed air and sea ports to all returning passengers.

Opposition Member of Parliament Horace Dalley on Wednesday raised the concern, urging the Ministry of Labour to try to get the workers back to Jamaica.

Zavia Mayne, Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour, said no agriculture or farm worker has returned home.

However, he said a substantial number of hospitality workers have returned and the ministry is seeking to have the remaining hotel workers back home as soon as possible.
