Investigators say information gathered so far suggests that Jamaica Labour Party councillor-caretaker for the Southboro Division in St. Catherine, Lennox Hines, was the victim of a targeted shooting.

Mr. Hines was a driving a white Honda CRV when he was shot on Marcus Garvey Drive about 5 o'clock on Thursday afternoon.

The police completed processing the crime scene shortly before 9 o'clock Thursday night.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kirk Ricketts, head of the St. Andrew South police division, told Radio Jamaica News that Mr. Hines was shot by two persons on a motorcycle.

He said the police are trying to determine what led to the shooting but insisted the attack was "not a random act".

SSP Ricketts said detectives will be relying on "all available options" including Jamaica Eye, in the hunt for the two men who killed Mr. Hines.
