Major NWC work along Waltham Park Road to cause traffic changes

NWC Corporate Communication Manager Andrew Canon

The National Water Commission (NWC) on Monday announced that it will be carrying out major infrastructure work along Waltham Park Road in St. Andrew in the coming weeks, resulting in major traffic changes effective Tuesday.

The thoroughfare is heavily used.

NWC Corporate Communication Manager Andrew Canon said the pipe laying project is part of the Commission's efforts to replace outdated and undersized pipes, which will improve the flow of water to surrounding communities.

The traffic changes will see only one-way traffic from the Spanish Town Road intersection along Waltham Park Road, while persons leaving Hagley Park Road will now need to use alternative routes.

These alternative routes can be via Three Miles, then onto the Spanish Town Road to access Waltham Park Road.

Mr. Canon said motorists may access all roads leading off Waltham Park Road while travelling north along the one-way or via Maxfield Avenue.

The traffic changes will remain in effect for four to six weeks.

Mr. Canon reiterated that the changes are necessary in order to complete the project in a timely manner.

He said sections of Waltham Park Road, Whitfield Town, all areas between Berwick Road and Spanish Town Road, Payne Land and sections of Maxfield Avenue will benefit from the pipe laying project.
