Man's leg severed by train

Vernon Dixon, Operations Officer, Jamaica Railway Corporation
A man's leg was severed on Friday after he was hit by a train in the vicinity of Amity Hall, St. Catherine.
Operations Officer at the Jamaica Railway Corporation Vernon Dixon said the man, who remains unidentified, had been sitting on the track about 4:40 p.m., when the train approached.
The train driver blew the horn in a desperate effort to alert the man, but "he was not able to move fast enough," and was hit by the train which severed his leg, Dixon reported.
The badly inured man was taken by police to the nearby Spanish Town Hospital.
Dixon said the train lines can easily be accessed by unauthorised persons.
