Mixed reactions to ZOSO in Greenwich Town

The Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) imposed in Greenwich Town has received mixed reactions from residents.
 
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the ZOSO Wednesday morning at a virtual media briefing.
 
There have been several murders and shootings in the area.
 
When Radio Jamaica News visited Greenwich Town Wednesday afternoon, the security forces were seen patrolling the community and manning checkpoints.
 
One resident welcomed the security measure.
 
"Mi prefer the security inna di area more than di terrorist or di gunman dem. Mi prefer di police, the soldier inna di area more," he said, while lamenting a string a recent murders in the community. 
 
Another resident questioned whether the Zone of Special Operations will be effective.
 
"By watching the news everyday, people say ZOSO no make no purpose cause dem come, dem look woman, dem have babymother. So fi drop ZOSO a Greenwich Farm, nut'n nah change, dem nah make it better...a waste a time dat... It too late now fi ZOSO come a Farm," she maintained.
