Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has said more than 41,000 people in Jamaica have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. Tufton said the 41,901 people vaccinated represent 88 per cent of the target for the month.
For this week, 2,254 people have been vaccinated, representing 24 per cent of the 9,447 target.
The health minister gave the update at a media briefing Thursday morning.
Jamaica's vaccination programme began on March 10, exactly one year after the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Jamaica.
Frontline health care workers, members of the security forces and the elderly are among being vaccinated in the priority groups.
