Police data show 212 people have been murdered in Jamaica since January 1. This is a six per cent increase over the same period last year.
Shootings are also up nine per cent.
The St James and St Andrew South police divisions recorded the most homicides.
There were 28 murders in St James, a 250 per cent increase over the same period in 2020.
Clarendon, Kingston West, Kingston Central and the St Catherine North divisions have also seen an uptick in murders and shootings.
