New arrival date for COVID-19 vaccines donated by India

There has been a delay in the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccines being donated to Jamaica by India.

The Ministry of Health says the shipment of 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine is now scheduled to arrive next Monday.

It was initially expected Thursday.

The Health Ministry says vaccination of Jamaicans is expected to start 48 hours after the arrival of the shipment on Monday.

The first batch of the vaccine will be followed by the March 11 arrival of 14,400 doses procured under the COVAX Facility.

Another 1.8 million doses, procured under a deal with the African Medical Supply Platform, will follow.
